Here you are… in High School!

Before you   know it,   it will be graduation day.

The best advice… PLAN AHEAD. It is your future!

MAKE A FOUR YEAR PLAN.

The first year in high school is when you start to create a record that will play a role in the college admission decision. A picture is being painted by what you do in 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades.

DO YOUR BEST IN YOUR CLASSES.

Class rank and GPA are two of the key factors in college admissions.

TAKE TOUGH CLASSES.

Instead of the easy "A," choose challenging classes because colleges like to see students who have taken rigorous, rather than easy, classes during their high school career.

BE INVOLVED IN SCHOOL.

Participate in school leadership programs. Lead clubs, get elected to a school government position, run the yearbook staff, etc. This shows interest and involvement.

PERFORM COMMUNITY SERVICE OR GET A PART-TIME JOB.

Extracurricular activities show that you are a well-rounded individual and you know how to manage your time efficiently.

CONSIDER SUMMER COURSES.

Many colleges offer arts camps and college prep courses during the summer for high school juniors and seniors. These programs are a good way to develop your talents and get your foot in the door with colleges.

KNOW AND MEET ALL DEADLINES.

Do not lose an opportunity because you missed a deadline.

REMEMBER WHAT IS IMPORTANT.

Grades, class rank, honors courses, and test scores are the most important attributes to getting into the college of your choice. Extracurricular activities demonstrate leadership, commitment, creativity, and teamwork.
